CES Talk Series – “Venture Capital in Bangladesh: Current Trends & Future Prospects”

On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, the Center for Enterprise and Society (CES), one of ULAB’s
core research centers, organized a talk titled “Venture Capital in Bangladesh: Current Trends &
Future Prospects,” by Mr. Shawkat Hossain, Managing Director, BD Venture Ltd.
The talk was a part of CES’s flagship Leadership Talk Series, under which, industry, private and
public sector leaders conduct seminars for the benefit of ULAB students, faculty, and outside
guests. The theme of the talk also coincides with ULAB CES’s endeavor to promote
entrepreneurship among ULAB students and the greater community.
Mr. Hossain encouraged students to consider entrepreneurship in addition to mainstream careers,
given the success of many recent university graduates in the start-up space. His talk focused on
funding opportunities for start-ups and entrepreneurs through equity financing and venture
capital.
